Twisted Innocence by Terri Blackstock | Book Review

Holly Cramer is a single mom who is trying to turn her life around.  Creed Crenshaw, the baby's father (that Holly's sisters don't know anything about), is a small-time drug dealer who decides that it's not for him.  Holly's sister, Cathy, was a onetime lawyer-turne-blogger, who has launched a campaign to get her fiancĂ© out of jail and pardoned.  Michael (Cathy's fiancĂ©) is sitting in jail after being put there on a technicality, thanks to Creed's drug boss.  Twisted Innocence tells the story of these two couples, and how they work together (with their families) to put Creed's boss out of business.

I've struggled with how to write a synopsis of this book, without giving anything away and not repeating what the Amazon description (affiliate link) is.  This the third book in the Moonlighters series, by Terri Blackstock.  After reading, I'm excited to dive into the other two books.  It is very well-written and actually takes place in the Florida panhandle.  This always piques an interest with me, reading fictional books about nonfictional areas I know and live.  The plot line and character development was just the right pace for me.  There was enough details to give me a vivid picture in my mind, yet the action sucked me in, reading chapters at a time.

The only complaint I have about the story is the plot line for Blackstock's secondary characters.  Holly's friend, who tells her that Creed knows that he has a baby, is mentioned early in the book.  However, we never hear anything else about him, and I'm left wondering if he is one of the people that are feeding information to Creed's former drug boss.  This is the same thought I have about Creed's friend.  Holly finds her working at a bar, and she knows (and seems a little jealous) that Holly has a child with Creed.  She lends Creed an RV to hide out in, she is the only one that knows where he's hiding out, and visits him.  Yet, after Creed redeems himself and starts seeing Holly, we never here about this friend again.

Overall, this is the best book that I have read in a long time.  I am excited to read more of Terri Blackstock's books, as she has 3 or 4 different series in print at this time.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. 2. It's one of the best freebie books that I've gotten so far. Unfortunately the one I am currently reading now, I've only made it about half way through and have to put down... :)
