Button Swappin' and Blog Growin'

grab button for Bear Den Plantation
<div class="bear-den-plantation-button" style="width: 250px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow"> <img src="" alt="Bear Den Plantation" width="250" height="250" /> </a> </div>
You may have noticed this week, that there is a neat little button on the right side bar, with some html under it.  With a short explanation!  The last month or so I have joined a few Facebook blogging groups.  If ya'll haven't looked in to these, I highly recommend them.  Some of them are for discussions, and some are to promote your blog, including other social media promotions.

In one of these groups, someone posted about a button swap.  I had seen bloggers' buttons on their sites for quite some time.  I've been toying with the idea of sponsorship for quite some time.  Right now, while I want to grow my blog, I don't feel it's the right time to spend a lot of money (really, any money) on sponsorships on other blogs.  I don't feel I have the time commitment I want in order to buy from others, or to sell myself.  However, I feel that the button swap is the perfect way to dip my toes in the water or sponsoring/ getting sponsored.

I made a quick button on Picmonkey, and sized it down to 250 x 250.  For doing it so quickly, I am kind of impressed with myself on how it turned out!   I even have one ready to resize with specific dimensions upon request. As of right now, I haven't set a time limit on how long I'll display others' buttons- but have made a note to actively check their buttons once a month to be sure mine is still displayed.  If you would like to swap buttons, leave a comment, or email me a link to your blog / your button code and let me know you've grabbed a button!  I'm pretty good at responding.  Except for on weekends- then it's hit or miss, if I'm at home or out exploring.

I think the natural progression of things will be for me to [eventually] start buying spaces for my own blog, and then to offer opportunities and spaces to others.  But, until I get into a groove that I'm happy with, this is a good way to spread the love!

I also want to work on my social media engagement, including scheduling posts out / more frequently (you'll find I use Facebook the most, and Insta and Twitter are not used to their full potential).  As well as sharing others' posts regularly.  Again, these are time commitments that I've not made so far, and need to ease into one at a time.  It may turn out to be that a Saturday afternoon at Starbucks will be spent to do these things for the week-  good coffee and fast internet are always good incentives for me!

So what do ya'll think?!  Any experience with button swaps?

  1. I am about to swap out some buttons on my blog. They have been there forever and one of the girls doesn't even have a blog anymore so time to change some of them. I would be more than happy to swat with you! You can grab my button on my side bar

  2. I think this is a very good idea,.. I was actually thinking of doing it too, but I haven't gotten around to finding a good picture, I like one that I had before, but since I changed my hair I need a new one.. I will def. add you to my sidebar once I get my button!

  3. Great idea! I want to learn how to do this. You're ahead of me!

  4. Sounds great Nadine! I've been pretty sickly the past couple days (which is why it's taken me so long to go through comments!) So hopefully this weekend I'll get enough energy to go upstairs and add yours!

  5. Sounds great Diana! just let me know when you get yours made!

  6. It was really easy with PicMonkey, and I just googled how to get the button code to show! It really didn't take much time, and i'm quite happy with the results!

  7. This is great! I will try to follow your tips and get my own so hopefully we can swap!

  8. Sounds good! It really wasn't bad at all!

I love comments! Let me know what you think!
