Friday Five | The Best of Friends

Friends has been my all time favorite television show for years.  I have all the seasons on DVD.  I debated on getting them on Blue-Ray when they came out.  I actually had the first three seasons on VHS.  When I found out I couldn't get season 4 on VHS, that's when I saved up my dollars and bought myself a DVD player.  I was probably in my Freshman year of high school.  I've been rewatching the episodes on Netflix, but could only make it so far.  Spoiler: The Netflix versions are the TV versions, which are shorter, and if you've seen all the episodes as many times as I have, you notice the differences.

Anyway, my top five favorite Friends episodes EVAR (but in no particular order):

Ross:
Oh, look! A low-budget puppet show.
Phoebe: It's such a shame you can't see which finger I'm holding up
The One with the Chicken Pox | Season 2, Episode 23- I'm on a Blue Bloods kick lately, so it's kind of fun seeing Tom Selleck from 19 years ago.  He really doesn't look like he's aged much.  Also, this episode has Charlie Sheen before he went bat shit crazy.

The One at the Beach | Season 3, Episode 25- This is pretty much my most favorite episode.  It is the first one I ever watched and laughed so, so hard the entire time.  The image of Joey asleep in the sand at Phoebe's client's beach house is the first memory that I have of this show.

The One with the Jellyfish | Season 4, Episode 1-  The follow up to the season 3 finale (which was The One at the Beach).  There are a couple things here I like- the first is this quote from Rachel: "And HEY just so you know! It's not THAT common, it doesn't happen to EVERY guy, and it IS a big deal!"  The second is how Chandler harasses Monica about how she would never date him, yet at the end of the season they wind up hooking up, and eventually marry.  Should I have used "Spoiler Alert?"    I automatically assume everyone has seen the series!

The One Where They're Up All Night | Season 7, Episode 12- Ross and Joey get stuck on the roof of the apartment building.  Ross crawls down Joey, to jump from the fire escape, and they can't decide if they should be "face to butt." They figure out that crotch to face probably is a little weird, too.  Basically, I have the mind of a 12 year old boy and think it's hilarious.

The One Where Rachel Tells Ross | Season 8, Episode 3- I can also remember when I first saw this episode.  It was when it first aired (the others, I caught on reruns), and I was sitting there watching it with my dad.  Who could take or leave the shows and sitcoms in general.  And then he watches Ross tell Joey that condoms are only like 97% effective.  Joey whips out a whole strip from his pocket.  My dad just cracks up… to this day I hear about him "pulling the pack of rubbers from his pocket."  And I cackle.

  2. Bahaha seriously, I was watching them, and was like, "oh this is my favorite, this is my favorite." I finally decided to pick only 1 per season to represent my "favorite" :)

  5. Gah I watched "The Odd Couple" last night with Matthew Perry. The only thing I could think the entire time is "Monica left Chandler..."

  9. Meee tooo. Before Netflix, before my husband, in the time of dvd, I didn't have cable going to the tv in my room. I would literally let the dvd play all night long, going asleep to and waking up to it! It's still my favorite to fall asleep to :P

  10. The episode that's quoted the MOST in my world is where they're moving the couch and Ross is screaming "PIVAAAAAAAT PIVOOOOOOOOOT!" - but that's because I'm an analyst nerd and live in Excel.
