Happy Long Weekending!

The most unproductive weekend ever.  Also the most relaxing!  I haven't left my house since I got back from work on Friday.  That will change this morning when I have to go get my oil changed, and grocery shop.

Yep.  Pretty much the only picture taken this weekend!

Saturday- Scott was in Las Vegas most of last week, and got back here at 9-10pm last night.  I haven't been sleeping well since he's been gone, thanks to the bears.  But, I got up early and had a couple cups of coffee, then cleaned up the kitchen.  The neurotic kind of clean where you empty all the crumbs from the toaster and wash/sanitize the trash can.  Then I read, pretty much all day (with sporadic neat-freak clean ups like whipping out the mini carpet cleaner and cleaning an entire area rug on my hands and knees).  Read, and sipped coffee.  The t.v. didn't get turned on.  The bears snoozed.  It was fantastic.  I can't wait for Wednesday when I share my first book review with you.

My friend that I haven't heard from in quite some time also called Saturday night, which made me switch from coffee to wine.  We wound up talking for about 2 hours.  By the time Scott got home shortly after I hung up, I was hyper from lots of coffee, and tipsy from lots of wine!  He definitely had his hands full!

Sunday- He's feeling a little under the weather from the traveling and the dry air in Nevada.  So we pretty much perched on the couch all day with a little bear between us and watched lots of t.v.  I mean, everything that was on the DVR from when he was gone.  New Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Duck Dynasty, Donny Loves Jenny (LOVE!), Wahlburgers, Two and a Half Men, The McCarthy's, Blackish, Modern Family, Last Man Standing, Grimm, Person of Interest, Mom, Bad Judge, Gold Rush. Those are just the shows that I watch/ we watch together!  I finally could not sit there any longer and came upstairs to work on the blog.  I'm pretty sure he fell asleep.

One thing I did do Saturday is look back at some old posts.  Like, before 3 people actually read this thing.  Here are a few from the early files!

Photo Editing-  Comments on this are still appreciated!  It was back when I was first trying to use Adobe Lightroom.  I'm still learning.

Life's a Beach-  Back at this point on the blog, really the only thing I was ... blogging about... was our weekend explorations.  Which in the height of summer in Florida, are the beaches.

A New Coffee Table-  The console table I built was the same design.  What do you think of this stain?  Too dark if I do the console table in it, too?  They'll be in the same room, along with a shorter console table on the other side of the fire place.

  1. Sometimes those relaxing weekends are just the medicine our souls needs. But don't say unproductive - talking to friends, reading, cleaning the toaster/rug... those are all things that needed to be done!!! Happy Monday :)

  2. Visiting from the link up! I love a good kitchen deep clean..any room deep clean really. Something about it makes me feel so accomplished and satisfied! Have a great week! :)

  3. Yes! One of my resolutions is to go through this house room by room and purge and deep clean. However, it's off to a very slow start. It pretty much only happens once in a great while- and then it's where ever I'm at, at the time.

  4. Very true! It's been a nice change of pace. I guess by real-life standards I did have quite the productive weekend. However, in my head, I just think of all the fun I could have been having if I didn't decide to go on a cleaning-spree! (Maybe I could've read a couple more books :) )

  5. Love weekends like this where you can get things done, but also enjoy some downtime. I love to read a few chapters, then clean a room, then read a few more, then clean again. And I really like your coffee table. We don't have room for one with our current furniture, but I would love to make something similar to this as end tables. Might have to share this with the husband as a future project :)

  6. Yes, it's been quite nice- and it doesn't seem quite so daunting when you break it up like that! I actually just got done cutting the lumber for our next table, in between reading blogs! The website that I got the plan for the coffee table from (ana-white.com) actually has an end table plan as well. I think it's called "rustic x end tables" or something similar. I was going to make them to complete the living room furniture, but not until we get new couches, so we know how they'll fit :)

  8. Hahah I enjoyed that it only lasted 2 hours!! Which is pretty amazing, since that include the 20 minute drive to and from town, an oil change, and braving the grocery store! It really is days/weekends like these that make me think I could be a stay at home dog-mom.

  9. Sounds like a nice chill weekend. Although I have to admit, I thought you meant REAL bears, eek!

  10. Ahhhh another couple that watched PLL and Grimm!!!! I feel Grimm is a very under-appreciated show! And gosh PLL, when are we going to get some answers?!?!?!??!

  11. Hahah My bears are more cuddly! Though, they do have the whole "hibernating" thing down!

  12. I didn't start out watching Grimm- it was just on a lot while I was trying to do other stuff. Husband would fall asleep watching it, and then I'd wind up watching bits and pieces of it over and over :)

I read somewhere that by the end of this season we'll actually get to find out who A is on PLL. After the show's first season, it frustrated me, so I read all the books that were out in the time. Terribly written books, and really, just as twisted as the show! I'm also sad they canceled Ravenswood

  13. We just started watching Grimm this summer and binge watched to catch up.

PLL is quite twisted. Speaking of Twisted...do you watch that show for the half a season it was on?? I never got in to Ravenswood. I watched the first two or three episodes and was like ummmm no. So I am glad Caleb is back...but I dont really know what happened there.

  14. I didn't bother watching Twisted at all, because I figured they'd cancel it.
