Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

I mentioned yesterday that we got our tree decorated this weekend.  I must say, I love it.  We were a little concerned at first, because the fake trees in Lowes that were about the size of our real tree had many, many more lights.  But they weren't LED.  So we used less than half of the lights on a tree that's a foot taller than the tallest fake tree we could find, and it's perfect.
The tree skirt, Scott's mom made us.

The tree has a nice ratio of red/silver/gold nonshatterable balls that I got after Christmas last year at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  Scott's aunt also gave us bunches of Hallmark ornaments that she collected through the years. I love the little creatures.

There is also a fair share of our own ornaments that we've acquired through the years.  I got this "Don't wake the bear (he's grouchy)" ornament for him, our first Christmas living together.  It stays up year-round, generally on our mantel.  We're not sure who it pertains more too.

This is our first and currently only, family ornament.  My brother and sister-in-law got it for us last year for Christmas- the first Christmas that we were married.

My mom got us these ornaments.  The red ball is made of crushed clam shells from Maine.  The moose is a moose, and also a reminder of my home state.   As well as the in-laws' dog.

This Waterford crystal snow star was given to us by Scott's other aunt.  I'm not sure what year it's from, as she just gave it to us over Thanksgiving.  I love how it reflects the lights behind it.  It's a good size and quite heavy.  It's also hanging toward the top of the tree, to avoid any quizzical doggies.

What are some of your favorite Christmas ornaments?

I'm joining the Holiday Link up over at Katie Elizabeth today!

  2. Thanks! There are a few that should probably be out all the time, rather than packed away for one time a year :)

  3. I remember when we were kids and one of your cats got neutered, and you said you were going to hang his balls on the tree that year. haha! I had totally forgotten about that and when I saw your post it came to me again.

  5. Thanks! I would love to eventually have a tree full of the glass/crystal ornaments. But that will be expensive. And also too tempting for the dogs.

  12. Thanks! I love it- though the husband was quick to respond that we / I have decked the house out in FSU colors. Seems only fitting since I work there. But, he's a Gators fan. I'm a fan of getting to decorate however I want if I'm doing it by myself :)
