Growing Up, Growing Older

Happy Friday!  I seem to be ahead of the game (in my head) on the whole blogging thing this week.  Therefore I'm going to participate in 5 on Friday and Oh, Hey Friday! again this week.  And hope that I can eke out some time to check out some of the other fantastic posts!

The #NaBloPoMo prompt today is "do you enjoy or do you fight growing older?"  I think it's a little of both.  I'm so much more comfortable in my own skin now than I was growing up.  Unfortunately it's not going to be long before that skin is wrinkly and/or sagging.

Yup. Let's do 5 things I dislike about growing older:

One:  Bills.  I've had them for over 10 years now but they still suck.  It's like we get one thing paid of and then something else comes up.

Two:  One glass of wine and I'm drunk.  I'm going to say this is because my tolerance for alcohol is not what it used to be.  Though it my be because my glass of wine has doubled in size...

Three:  Doctor's visits.  I could go years without seeing a doctor when I was first in Tennessee.  Now it's clockwork every year for a check up.  And every few months in between, because like with the bills, something always comes up that needs addressing.

Four:  Getting up and ready for work.  In my days of retail, I lived all of one mile from the mall that I was working at.  That opened at 10, except for this time of year.  I could go to bed at 3 am and roll out of bed at 9 to quickly get ready for work.  Now I'm passed out by 9pm and have all I can to drag myself out of bed at 6:30.  Don't worry- that's one of the issues I had addressed with the doc.  Since it's nothing serious- something that diet and exercise could fix- I just self medicate with lots of coffee.

Five: Aches and pains.  Sometimes I may sleep wrong and wake up with a sore neck.  NBD.  However, my husband bent over to take off his shoe or something, and tweaked his back.  To the point where he was in bed for a couple days, and worked from home a couple more days.  He says it's still tight and he's much more cognizant of what kind of manual labor he's doing.  No more picking up a 90 lb puppy.

There you have it!  What do you like about growing older? Dislike?

  1. Sounds like fun ;P

I reckon when your younger you enjoy getting older because you want to, and then it turns into fighting getting older.. I think I'm going to be a fighter - I already sort of am tbh!

    Great post :)

  2. There's so much to look forward to when you're younger. Then you hit 21 and you realize, really the only thing left is that you can rent a car at 25. Woo-freaking-hoo! lol

I feel ya on all of these!!! It's so funny how when we were 15 and 16 we couldn't wait to be adults and now all I want is to go back to being a teenager!!
