#Blogtober14: Proven Wrong

Day 10 of Blogtober's prompt is "I Never Thought Blogging Would..."  Not even a week ago I decided that I needed to focus on this little nugget of internet heaven more.  At least, if I wanted to see a little bigger piece of the blogosphere action.  So I committed myself to Blogtober.  I committed myself to writing daily, to checking out others' blogs, to commenting on and following new blogs.

I am by no means a "pro" yet.  But I've seen a difference already:
  • Posts are becoming less wordy. Kind of.  I still, and always will, struggle with this.
  • I'm seeing a lot more traffic on my blog, and even a couple of comments per post is up from where I was last week.
  • It's getting easier for me to comment on others' blogs.  I feel like my comments to others have to be as good as a post itself on my own blog.  Sometimes a "this is freaking great" comment covers it.
  • I enjoy others' comments on my posts.  I'm a little lot sarcastic.  People don't get my humor, or sometimes it doesn't come across.  I wind up using a lot of emoticons.  It makes me happy when someone posts "LOL @ ... [whatever inappropriate comment or analogy I made.]"
  • I've tried very hard at reading 10 or 15 (or more!) posts from Blogtober, nightly.  I have found a number of  blogs I now follow on bloglovin'.
  • I've spent more time blogging than I had ever before.  Consequently, I have watched far less tv but have upped my wine intake.
In short, as little as I dabbled in this before... I never though blogging would present such a big, open world of fun for me.   I must say, I hope it continues, and I can get into the whole social media thing more as I blog on.

  1. "This is freaking great" ;P But seriously it is, I can agree on all of the above - love the last one too, upped wine intake is never a bad thing ;)

  2. Hahaha! The wine intake may have to be taken down a notch since I had to go back and read what I posted in reference to this! :-P

  3. it's crazy how much you learn in such a short amount of time! It does take a lot of effort but it's worth it!

  4. It's true! I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth on this whole "blog" thing. Especially when I already had/have a tumblr that I post to almost daily anyway. But that was, and is, just pictures (mostly of my dogs) for the family. Come to find out, I enjoy a little writing and creativity as well!

hahaha less tv, more wine, and ALL of the sarcasm please!

  6. Hahah thanks! It's terrifying that I've actually toned DOWN the sarcasm through editing. If I posted everything that actually goes through my head. It would a) be terrifying b) make for long(er) posts and c) probably make people wonder if I'm a bitter old cat lady! (not yet, FYI :) )

Haha I love this! The bit about more wine intake is great! I also struggle with being more concise, it's nice to know I am not the only one.

  8. It's true! I've taken to reading others' blogs in the evening, and I'll just sip my wine and read. And not be done reading by the time the wine is gone, so what's the harm in another? :)

Hey Dorrie, you know i think the trick that we learned from this Blogtober experience is, that once we commit to a blogging routine, it becomes somewhat easier. And it's great that you found your motivation to be a "more present blogger". Good for you!

  10. I agree with you.. and the more you comment on other blogs, the more they visit yours! ;)

  11. I'm seeing this, and need to remember it the nights that I feel like just laying on the couch watching tv. I could be multitasking!

I love comments! Let me know what you think!
